The much awaited Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Super 30’ trailer is just out and people are looking forward to getting a glimpse the life of mathematician Anand Kumar, on whom the movie is based. But who is Anand Kumar? May be everyone knows who Anand Kumar is, but very few know about his journey, his achievements and his controversies.
So now, let’s take some time to know interesting facts about Anand Kumar, the mathematician from Bihar who inspired Hrithik’s character in the upcoming Super 30 movie.
- Anand Kumar, son of a clerk was born and brought up in Patna Bihar attended Hindi Medium government school due to lack of financial support. After losing his father, Kumar’s mother started a small business from home. Anand used to support her mother is selling papads at night, while he would work on mathematics during the day.
- Initially, Kumar started his own institute Ramanujan School of Mathematics in 1992 for teaching mathematics. His super 30 was started in 2002 when he was approached by a poor student who came seeking coaching for IIT-JEE who was unable to pay annual admission fee even due to poverty.
- Anand Kumar achieved success in 2009 when Discovery Channel broadcasted a one-hour long program on Super 30 and the New York Times devoted half a page to Kumar. Not only this, actress and former Miss Japan Norika Fujiwara visited Patna to make a documentary on Kumar’s initiatives.
- Not only success but Anand Kumar also garnered controversies as well. in July 2018, some of the students have alleged that Kumar made a misleading claim in 2018 that 26 out of 39 students from super 30 had cleared IIT JEE exam. The real picture as per some students was only three students from super 30 team had qualified for IIT JEE.
