Tips to help Freshers to find Software and IT jobs

Nowadays many of friends who is recently coming out of the colleges and recently migrated to Bangalore is searching for the jobs as Freshers in IT / software Field. Many of my juniors and friends asked me to how to proceed further on Job searching as they are new to the city and new to the world of the web. I am sharing my experience with them considering they might get benefit out of it. You may also add your points / suggestions / feedback as part of the comment section. This might help out our younger friend to start in the right direction in order to find a dream job.

Tips to help Freshers to find Software and IT jobs:

1. Create an Impressive resume. Google it and find it best resume format and edit in order to make sure that resume should be clean and readable Remember our HR friends are no so technical and they filter out resume based on the keywords and cover letter of the resume. Highlight what you know in terms of technical skills. Only Mentioned the things which you know it and no wrong info.

2. Register your profile carefully with useful title and Cover letter and follow up regularly.

3. Register and follow the fresher jobs groups in Facebook / Linkedin / Yahoo and google groups for new job alerts and updates.

4. Build your networking in Freshers circles for updates and alerts for the off campus hiring. Remember Freshers jobs alerts and being connected is the best way to find a job. And most important you should be honest and with sharing attitude with your network friends.

4. List down all  the companies and go to their official website career section and do the following.

                1. Upload your resume to their portal

                2. Subscribe for newsletters by using your active email id.

                3. Search for any opening which fits the Freshers criteria or the jobs which has a specification for less than 1 year.

                4. Keep monitoring these areas regularly.

Home work to be prepared for Interview.

1. Make sure you have good analytical and reasoning skills. That’s more important for Freshers as this is being asked in the preliminary round of interview in all the company.

2. Make sure whatever skills sets you have mentioned in a resume, you must be comfortable with that.

3. You should know OOPS concept

4. You must know Datastrcuture such as Lists, Array, Tree, heaps, hashes and Graphs.

5. You must be able to write a few basic programs in Java and C++

6. You should know the Software Development life cycle.

7. You must know overview of testing concept and cycles including White box black box testing etc.
