The ACT (American College Testing) is a standardized college admissions exam widely used in the United States. It measures a student’s skills in English, Math, Reading, and Science, with an optional Writing (Essay) section. The ACT is designed to assess a student’s readiness for college by testing both knowledge and reasoning skills. Scores range from 1 to 36 for each section, and the composite score is the average of the four main sections. Many colleges accept the ACT as an alternative to the SAT, and performing well can strengthen a student’s college application.
