The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) conducts the Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO) examination to recruit candidates for various specialized positions. The eligibility criteria for the LIC AAO exam are as follows:
1. Age Limit:
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 30 years
The age is calculated as of January 1, 2023. Candidates must have been born between January 2, 1993, and January 1, 2002 (both dates inclusive).
2. Age Relaxation:
The upper age limit is relaxable for candidates belonging to specific categories:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD (General): 10 years
- PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
- PwBD (OBC): 13 years
- ECO/SSCO (General): 5 years
- ECO/SSCO (SC/ST): 10 years
- ECO/SSCO (OBC): 8 years
- Confirmed LIC employees: Further relaxation of 5 years

3. Educational Qualifications:
- AAO (Generalist): A bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian university/institution.
- AAO (Chartered Accountant): A bachelor's degree in any discipline and must have passed the final examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Candidates should be Associate members of ICAI and provide their membership number for verification.
- AAO (Actuarial): A bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian university. Candidates should have passed paper CT1 and CT5 plus four or more other papers of the exam conducted by the Institute of Actuaries of India or the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK. Candidates must also have a membership number for the same.
- AAO (IT): A bachelor's degree in Engineering in Computer Science, IT, or Electronics. Candidates with a degree in MCA or MSc (Computer Science) may also apply.
- AAO (Legal): A bachelor's degree in Law or LLM from a recognized Indian university/institution. Three years of Bar experience is essential.
- AAO (Rajbhasha): Post Graduate Master's Degree in Hindi/Hindi translation with English as one of the subjects at the bachelor's degree level, or Post Graduate Master's Degree in English with Hindi as one of the subjects at the bachelor's degree level, or Master's degree in Sanskrit with Hindi and English as major subjects in graduation.
4. Nationality:
Candidates must be:
- A citizen of India
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
5. Other Criteria:
- Language Proficiency: Candidates must have a working knowledge of English and the regional language of the state for which they are applying.
- Computer Literacy: Basic knowledge of computer operations is essential.
