The basic eligibility requirements for JEE Advanced are quite strict and must all be satisfied together. First, a candidate must qualify in JEE Main and rank among the top 2.5 lakh candidates (category-wise) to become eligible. In terms of age, students must generally be born on or after 1 October 2001, with a relaxation of 5 years for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. Academically, candidates should have appeared for Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and they must have passed it in the required eligible year window as defined by IIT rules. Another important condition is that a student can attempt JEE Advanced only twice in two consecutive years, and they should not have been previously admitted to any IIT. Overall, eligibility is a combination of JEE Main performance, age criteria, board exam conditions, and attempt restrictions, all of which must be fulfilled simultaneously to apply.
