From my perspective, the most important feature in an open banking platform is a strong, consent-driven API security and permission management system. Since open banking is built on sharing sensitive financial data between banks, fintech apps, and third-party providers, the platform must ensure that customer data is only accessed with explicit, granular consent and that users can easily control, modify, or revoke access at any time. This not only strengthens security through encryption, tokenization, and strict authentication protocols like OAuth 2.0, but also significantly improves customer trust and experience because users feel in control of their data. When consent management is transparent and real-time, it reduces fraud risks, prevents unauthorized access, and creates a seamless ecosystem where financial services can integrate smoothly without compromising privacy.
