A total of 93 students of Telangana\u2019s\n welfare schools have cracked JEE-Advanced and are now qualified for \nadmissions at IITs around India. In May this year, 506 students from the schools had cracked the JEE-Mains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among\n the total 93, 20 students from social welfare institutes and 27 from \ntribal welfare residential institutes will get admission in IITs. The \nrest of the 46 students will get into IIT preparatory courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several of these successful students \nare first generation learners from their tribal hamlets and rural \nvillages. The number of social and tribal welfare students securing IIT \nhas increased to 93 in 2019 from 36 in 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students of social and tribal welfare\n residential educational institutions under the KG-PG mission were being\n provided free intensive long-term IIT residential coaching program \nunder the guidance of secretary RS Praveen Kumar, TS Social Welfare \nGurukula Educational Institutions.

Most of the students who have cracked\n the exam this year are children of drivers, masons, roadside tea \nsellers, landless labourers, security guards, daily wage labourers, taxi\n drivers and domestic househelps belonging to the ST and SC communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All India rank of 156 was secured by K\n Srinivas Kalyan and the 205th rank in the SC category was bagged by \nRathod Anand Kishore. Vidwan Gagan secured the 847th rank in the ST \ncategory. D Praveen Kumar and Rajinikesh Vardhan secured the 1770th \nrank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is immensely satisfying to see that hundreds of students from SC\/ST communities are creating a mark for themselves in the country\u2019s toughest exam and this success means a lot to them and their poverty-stricken families,\u201d The News Minute quoted secretary Praveen Kumar as saying. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last month, the students of the \nwelfare schools proved their mettle both in the intermediate board and \nClass X results by outperforming by a big margin other government \ncolleges and private colleges in the state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As compared to the state\u2019s average \npass percentage of 64.8%, students of the welfare institutions surpassed\n the state average with a pass percentage of 84.31% in the senior inter \nresults. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
