There are three strands:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>National Insurance administered by the social insurance bank (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.svb.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.svb.nl<\/a>), which includes old age pension (AOW) and child benefit (AKW);<\/li><li>Employee Insurance administered by UWV (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.uwv.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.uwv.nl<\/a>), including unemployment benefit (WW, see below), long-term disability (WIA) and sickness (ZW); and<\/li><li>Social Assistance administered by municipalities (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rechtopbijstand.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">www.rechtopbijstand.nl<\/a>).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Specific conditions apply to each benefit. Also, do check that your residence rights are not affected if you apply for benefits. Your official documents will need to be in good order. Consult the Ministry of Social Affairs and Welfare website (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.szw.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.szw.nl<\/a>) for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unemployment benefit (WW)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your employment history will determine the amount and duration of payments. It comprises the first two months at 75 percent and thereafter 70 percent of your last earned salary (there\u2019s a maximum daily rate of EUR 195.96 gross). You must have worked for 26 out of the previous 36 weeks before the first day of unemployment (may be fewer if you are a musician or artist, or not in regular employment). It can be restricted if other benefits are in operation. You apply for benefit online at&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.werk.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.werk.nl<\/a>&nbsp;or at a local office of&nbsp;<em>UWV WERKbedrijf<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voluntary work<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A volunteer is a\u00a0<em>vrijwilliger<\/em>\u00a0and there are many opportunities depending on your skills.
